Overview

The only bar you'll need.

Mutiny’s 2nd generation control bar has evolved from our highly acclaimed 1st generation bar, retaining the functionality and simplicity of its predecessor while  adding a number of new features to improve your riding experience while  increasing  the life- span of the bar.

The bar's longevity is improved with a new friction reducing acetyl bushing and new double pre-stretched Teflon- coated flying lines.  We have increased rider comfort with new softer bar ends marrying them with our market leading synthetic suede Gecko Grip.  The bar's high level of functionality continues with our industry applauded front line swivel, simple push away quick release, and above the bar de-power which easily adjusts to suit your style and your arm length.

Available in both 4 and 5 line configurations and compatible with most brands and all sizes of kites, the new 2nd generation bar puts you firmly in control.

Design

Design

Mutiny’s bar design principles remain: simple, tough, safe and adjustable. At Mutiny we feel the only way to ensure there is no compromise between performance and safety is to take ownership  of the design and manufacturing of every component.  This allows us to craft each component from scratch to ensure they integrate seamlessly to provide the most advanced, user-friendly and durable bar on the market.

CAD (Computer Aided Design)

We use Solidworks and Rhinoceros CAD modelling software to give us exact control of every mm of the components shape, right from the early concept designs through prototyping and into production. This software not only enables us to create unique and  complex forms but also allows us to calculate the loading and stress for each design concept before we start prototyping. This highlights critical areas of each design, so we can minimise the use of material where it is not needed, and reinforce areas where it is, so our parts are stronger, lighter and crafted specifically  for the job in hand. The rapid turnaround of designs in the software allows us to explore concepts faster so we can bench-test  more ideas and ensure only the best make it to production.

Materials

A design is only as good as the materials used, which is why we take great care in those we choose. We don’t settle for the “easiest to get” or the “easiest to use”, but insist on what’s best . For example, the bar core is constructed from aircraft- grade aluminium 7075 as opposed to the industry standard 6061. It’s twice as strong and allows us to produce  a thinner more ergonomic bar core, which gives a more comfortable ride. The Chicken Loop’s body is made from an imported nylon grade from DuPont which is rarely used by  Chinese factories but which we insist  on as it is the only way we can guarantee that each loop withstands a load of over 400kg, in all environments.

Production and Quality Testing

We work with a number of specialist factories in the Far East to ensure the we maintain the quality of the many different processes required . The final  approved components are then assembled in our factory which is subject to regular inspections by the Mutiny team.

To maintain this consistent  quality, a sample of components from every production batch is destruction tested. A representative sample is  loaded until it breaks  while using a sensitive load cell to measure the vital statistics (deformation and loads).  The data instantly shows if the parts meet our standards, and this ensures that the manufacturing process has been followed correctly. Once the parts have met our rigorous strength and safety standards the rest of the batch is allowed through to production, ready for assembly.

Features

Useful Features for Kitesurfing Creatures.

Every one of the bar's features has a job to do, and do it, it does. Nothing is there for show, everything has been specifically designed by our kitesurfing team of designers to make your experience better than ever. From the combined swivel and pulley looking after your pre-stretched flying lines and making your fully adjustable depower system run smoothly to your simple and safe quick release which orientates itself with your ever-smooth bar core, the Mutiny Bar makes kitesurfing more enjoyable than ever before, for any rider, whatever your style.

Mutiny Quick Release

Simple, Safe, Sorted.

Safety should be your biggest priority when choosing a bar for your kite. Simplicity is the key. Our Quick Release has no levers or mechanical nonsense to break or jam in your harness, so you can be confident that your Mutiny Quick Release will work every time, with any harness, whatever the problem. With an intuitive "Push-Away" system which works above your chicken loop, you'll always know what to do and can reassemble it easily with one hand. Staying safe has never been so easy.

Mutiny Swivel

Finally, a Swivel that works!

Made from a self lubricating polymer, housing a fully sealed stainless steel ball-race bearing your Mutiny Swivel doesn't need much to get its swivel on. The swivel automatically unwinds your flying lines after spins, loops and wipeouts reducing the wear that twists can do. It can even be reached easily and operated manually to speed up the swivelling by depowering your kite. Integrated into the swivel is your centreline pulley making your depower strap run smooth and easy.

Mutiny Depower System

100% Adjustability that Suits Any Rider.

At the heart of the bar is Mutiny's ergonomic depower trim system. The position of the clamcleat is 100% adjustable so you can tune your depower range to suit your riding style and your size quickly and easily without any tools. Your depower strap will never be too close or too far away ever again. In fact it will always be just right because you put it there. Perfect.

Mutiny Bar Core

Stay-Smooth Bar Core = Wear-Free Centre Line.

The incredibly strong, solid 6061-T6 aluminium Mutiny Bar Core stays smoother for longer and resists wear better than ever. Where metal plated or fibreglass bar cores may wear out or begin to damage your centre line, the solid Mutiny bar core remains friction-free and intact ensuring your centre line last longer and your riding stays problem-free.

 Bar Size

One Bar, Two Lengths. Optimise Any Kite Size.

The two bar length options on your comfortable, rubberised Mutiny Bar ends allow you to optimise the performance of all kite sizes quickly and easily. You'll only ever need one bar whether you are looking for more control on your smaller kites or greater leverage on your bigger kites. There are no knots to untie just a simple larks head around a pin which can be done easily even in the coldest conditions.

Mutiny Bar Grip

Gecko Grip™ -Sticky When Wet

The Mutiny Bar features a brand new style of grip providing unprecedented levels of comfort and durability. Gecko Grip™ a hand sewn synthetic suede made of ultramicrofibers closely woven into bundles has never been seen before in kiting. Once wet the Gecko Grip™ becomes unbelievably sticky without the need for a harsh textured finish. Coupled with the narrow diameter bar, Gecko Grip™ gives a soft, comfortable feel which stops your hands from sliding, being damaged or cramping. The Gecko Grip™ is also far more durable than the EVA foam used on other bars, it does not rip or peel off your bar and takes far longer to wear out. .

Mutiny Flying Lines

They're Stronger and they Won't get Longer.

The Mutiny flying lines are made from 100% dyneema with a breaking strain of 360kgs, that's strong. After being pre-stretched by their French manufacturers, Cousin, and again by our Chinese staff the Mutiny Flying Lines have had all their stretch removed. So your Mutiny lines are the strongest available and least likely to stretch no matter how hard you push it giving you a crisp and direct connection to your kite that you can trust.

Mutiny Chicken Loop

Moulded. Perfectly Formed and Formed Perfectly. Every Time.

The new Mutiny Chicken loop has been moulded so it will never lose its shape. This means you'll always be able to hook in easily and it will never come off your harness unexpectedly whatever harness you use. With our removable chicken lock, the Mutiny Chicken loop will suit all riders and all styles whether you're hooked on riding or riding off the hook.

Mutiny Orientation Lock

It's just TOO Easy.

The Mutiny Quick Release and Mutiny Bar Core work together to form the Mutiny Orientation Lock. The top part of the quick release system fits snugly into the bar core locking the chicken loop in the correct orientation for hooking in. Gone are the days of grabbing the chicken loop with your spare hand to hook back in. Now all you have to do is pull the bar in and the chicken loop presents itself to your harness hook every time. Too easy!

Testimonials

The thing that caught my eye the most about your kites at first was actually the bar. I loved the look of it; it seemed really well designed, simple to use and to adjust and I loved the fact that it was above the bar trim, I hated the below the bar trim on my Slingshot and Naish bars. The bar has definitely lived up to my expectations. I love the gecko grip. I used to get blisters on my hands from the slingshot bar but that is a thing of the past now and I can easily ride for hours on end, day after day, and wont get blisters. I like being able to adjust the position of the cleat too. Being able to choose to have more trim or bar depower is something that I have always wanted and I think it makes the bar a lot more personalised. The lines are really good quality and are still going strong after a lot of use, the depower line is a bit worn but that’s to be expected after the amount of use I’ve given it. I really like the swivel, its meaty, its fluid and isn’t clunky like some other ones I’ve had. It’s nice to do a back roll, front roll or kite loop and have the front lines untwisted when you land. I am constantly comparing the bar to other one and it still comes out on top for me.

Trevor Ingham - New Zealand

The Mutiny bar is by far the best bar I have ever used to date, the swivel is fantastic!

Marcus Woodbridge - Facebook post

“I got the swivels in the mail today and fitted them on my bars. Just after finishing, the wind picked up and I headed to the lake. The swivels are perfect. They spin with ease through kite loops, back and front rolls and everything else I threw at them. This was the first session since I started doing tricks that I didn't have to un-twist my front lines. Thanks again for everything.“
